Photo Collage

This week my Year 10 class has been making photo collages. Students were asked to identify their favourite colour, animal, flower/plant/tree, water, season, and time of day. They then found images for each aspect and created a photo collage using a free online tool (we used fotor.com).

This task was taken from a presentation made by Robin Holding at the NZ Writing Conference in July.

My chosen features were:

Colour: Purple
Animal: Dragon
Flower/Plant/Tree: Picasso Calla Lily
Water: Tropical Lagoon
Season: Autumn
Time of day: Midnight

One aim of making the collage is to get students thinking creatively. The task also is a way of sharing some information about the student's personality while still being cybersafe.

This is how my collage turned out:

Our next step will be some creative writing based on the collage. Watch this space!

Welcome to the new home of Teach20!

Hi! Welcome to the new version of my teaching blog. This was the old blog:
Teach Twenty by Jess Wilson

Long story short, my name has changed, the blog was on an email address I don't use anymore, and I haven't been blogging for a long time. So now that I am revitalizing my blog, I have decided to move it to another email address under my married name.

So, welcome to Teach20 by Jess Torley!
